As I continue to develop my GAME plan, I am gaining more confidence and becoming more proficient with integrating technology in my content area. My prior post explains how I developed, implemented, monitored and evaluated my personal GAME Plan. I will revise my GAME Plan throughout this post. So far, there are a few things that I have learned that will allow me to apply in my instructional practice. Blogging is one of the main technologies that I will be able to use with my students. It gives every student a voice with out verbally speaking. It also gives the students a chance to share their ideas and thoughts via the internet. Another thing that I have learned was that every student will not function on the same level when using technology. That's why it's important for me to customize my lessons for my diverse learners.
The main goal that I am working towards is retrieving permission from my school board to allow the use of blogs and wiki's in the school system. These digital tools are very valuable for the students when completing assignments. It allows them to be creative and use their creativity to complete projects without direct instruction from the teacher. The students of today do not learn best in a setting where the teacher just lectures. Students want to be involved in the learning process just as much as the teacher. Including technology and digital tools into their lessons allows for the studenst to take control of their learning. I have to convince the technology department why it is important for our students to have access to these tools. At this time, there aren't any new goals that I have set for myself. I am still working to get my students to become more confident and proficient when using digital tools when completing assignments.
Since I am not ready to set new learning goals, I will continue to use more digital tools and other technological devices that my students will be able to experience. I realize that most of my students do not have access to a computer or other technological devices besides a cell phone. It is my duty as an educator to expose as much technology as possible into their lessons at school since they are in a technology age. I feel that the more experience they have with technology the more they will be qualified for today's workforce.
I am not sure what approach I will use next time when implementing my goals. I am just working on my current goals to become more proficient and confident with learning new strategies to apply to my instructional practice.

Carrying out my GAME plan
This week blog assignment is to review the GAME plan that I have created. I will strengthen my understanding and develop a supportive learning community by synthesizing my learning and recording thoughts and ideas in my blog. The blog assignment will include what resources I will need to plan, additional information that I may need and what steps Ive been able to take so far.
What resources will I need to carry out my GAME plan?
The main resource that I will need to carry out my GAME plan are several computers with internet access. There are several digital tools that my students can use that will allow them to become proficient when completing assignments. Programs and tools like wikis, blogs, voice threads and power point presentation are just a few digital tools that will be used to carry out my GAME plan. "Using multiple media and formats to access information, practice skills, and demonstrate mastery," Cennamo, Ross, Ertmer (2009).
What additional information do I need?
Some additional information that I need is to see which students are proficient with certain digital tools. The students who are proficient with using certain digital tools will work on assignments that include other digital tools that they are not proficient with. This will allow students to become proficient users of multimedia tools.
What steps have I been able to take so far?
One step that I have taken so far was becoming familiar with vast array of digital tools. I need to become more proficient with these digital tools so that I will be able to assist my students when operating the digital tools to complete assignments.
If there is anyone who can assist me or share ideas on how to help my students to become more proficient with using digital tools, please do not hesitate to me any advice that you may have.
Thanks,
Olufemi

Constructivist/Constructionist Learning Theories
This week's learning resources focused heavily on constructionism and constructivism. Dr. Orey explains that constructionism is a theory of learning that states people learn best when they build an external artifact or something they can share with others. Constructivism is a theory of knowledge stating that each individual actively contracts his or her own meaning. Dr. Orey also provided great examples of how to incorportae these theories with the ue of technology.
When thinking about constructionism, students are engaged inlearning and creating. The use of tools and technology to create artifacts highlights the meaning of this theory. More examples like creating a powerpoint or websites show how technology is used to correlate the instructional strategy in the classroom. Concept mapping is also a great tool to use to connect ideas from a general subject. It allows students to organize their thoughts and ideas using technology.
All of this week's strategies correlates with the instructional strategy and constructivist/constructionist theory. These strategies allow for assimilation which occurs when external reality is made to fit within one's current beliefs and understanding. It also allows for accommodation which occurs when one's current belief and understanding are altered to fit the external reality.
In conclusion, these strategies come with great ideas that can be used in the classroom. I believe it can and will bring a sense of equilibrium which is the process of achieving a balance between differences in external reality and one's current beliefs and understandings.

Behaviorism in Practice
Chapter 8, Reinforcing Effort, outlines the importance of effort to achieve. Basically, students track their effort and acheivement using spreadsheet software, rubrics, and surveys to track their progress. "The instructional strategy of reinforcing effort enhances students' understanding of the relationship between effort and achievement by addressing their attitudes and beliefs about learning," (Hubbell, Kuhn, Malenosko, Pitler, 2007). This behaviorist approach plays a big role in learning. I think by using this technological approach, it is more meaningful for the students instead of lecturing on putting forth effort to acheive. Although this chapter does not outline students learning basic skills, it demonstrates the abilty for students to understand basic concepts. Can students learn and understand this concept with out the use of technology? Yes. But using data collection seems to be more meaningful and clear when it comes to identifying the correlation between their effort and grades or achievement. The students have real information where they can analyze to see why they are achieving on a certain level. This approach alone will not increase everyones achievement level ,but it gives them an idea on where they are with their effort and achievement.
Chapter 10 focuses on homework and practice. Homework is basically an extension of what students learn in the classroom. "Homework and practice give students a chance to review and apply what they have learned," (Hubbell, Kohn, Malenoski, Pitler, 2007).
The purpose of homework is for drill and practice. Most lkills that are learned in school, or even life must be practiced. For example, for a basketball team to play a game, they must have practice basic skills of the game. To learn and master those skills, they must use drills during practice. Homework assignments must not be assigned in vain. It must pertain to what is being taught and has a purpose. Homework should also be meaningful so that the student can take it serious. When it's meaningful, students will be more engaged to mastery the skill at hand.
Chapter 10 also outlines different websites and software that can assist with homework. These sites are great for tutoring and remediation. For students who do not have access to computers at home, it's maybe helpful to give those students time through the school day to use the computer.
Overall, behaviorism plays a big role in learning. It assist with skill development and higher order concepts. Although this shouldn't be the only approach used in the classroom, it does shows that skill developmet is increased when using a behaviorist approach.
