Revising my GAME Plan

As I continue to develop my GAME plan, I am gaining more confidence and becoming more proficient with integrating technology in my content area. My prior post explains how I developed, implemented, monitored and evaluated my personal GAME Plan. I will revise my GAME Plan throughout this post. So far, there are a few things that I have learned that will allow me to apply in my instructional practice. Blogging is one of the main technologies that I will be able to use with my students. It gives every student a voice with out verbally speaking. It also gives the students a chance to share their ideas and thoughts via the internet. Another thing that I have learned was that every student will not function on the same level when using technology. That's why it's important for me to customize my lessons for my diverse learners.

The main goal that I am working towards is retrieving permission from my school board to allow the use of blogs and wiki's in the school system. These digital tools are very valuable for the students when completing assignments. It allows them to be creative and use their creativity to complete projects without direct instruction from the teacher. The students of today do not learn best in a setting where the teacher just lectures. Students want to be involved in the learning process just as much as the teacher. Including technology and digital tools into their lessons allows for the studenst to take control of their learning. I have to convince the technology department why it is important for our students to have access to these tools. At this time, there aren't any new goals that I have set for myself. I am still working to get my students to become more confident and proficient when using digital tools when completing assignments.

Since I am not ready to set new learning goals, I will continue to use more digital tools and other technological devices that my students will be able to experience. I realize that most of my students do not have access to a computer or other technological devices besides a cell phone. It is my duty as an educator to expose as much technology as possible into their lessons at school since they are in a technology age. I feel that the more experience they have with technology the more they will be qualified for today's workforce.

I am not sure what approach I will use next time when implementing my goals. I am just working on my current goals to become more proficient and confident with learning new strategies to apply to my instructional practice.

  1. Olufemi,

I felt that your thoughts about students wanting to be involved in the learning process and that by using technology and digital tools allows students to take control of their learning was spot on. Technology and new tools is transforming our role as educators into more of a facilitating the use of technology and learning type of role. I agree that we need to make it our goal to encourage our districts and fellow teachers to use technology in the classroom. I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors.
